Location and venue

We acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people, who are the Traditional Owners of the land upon which we will gather for SST2022, and we pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Conference venue

SST2022 will be held on the Australian National University’s Acton campus, in the heart of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. SST2022 will be delivered in a hybrid format, with remote participation options for those unable to attend in-person, or wanting to engage online as well as in-person.

All sessions for the Tutorial Day and the main conference programme will be hosted in the ANU Research School of Social Sciences Building, 146 Ellery Crescent, Acton ACT. Sessions will be held on the ground floor in the RSSS Auditorium, Lectorial 1 and Lectorial 2.

Canberra weather

Canberra in summer is usually hot and dry, with low levels of humidity. Given we are entering a third La Niña, there may be more rain in December than in previous years. We recommend coming prepared for both rain and sunshine, as Canberra and the ANU campus are both relatively exposed places.

Local cafes, stores and restaurants

The Acton campus of ANU has many cafes and eateries, as well as essentials such as a small grocery store and a pharmacy, and the surrounding areas include various dining and sightseeing options. For some pointers, see this map of Canberra for SST attendees.
